Why Do Fire Engines Respond To Medical Emergencies?: All Castle Hills Fire Department firefighters are trained to handle medical emergencies. A fire engine is sent with the EMS unit to provide additional support and manpower. The fire department will be able to get to your location faster than private ambulances, so our arrival provides emergency medical care sooner - and during medical emergencies, time is the most important factor.

1. How Do I Obtain A Copy Of The Fire Incident Report?: Reports may be requested in writing through the administrative offices. Please be as specific as you can regarding dates and addresses. In some instances where investigations are ongoing, reports may not be immediately available.

2. Which Services Does the Fire Department Offer?: Life safety and fire suppression is our main job function. We do perform fire inspections on commercial businesses as well as home inspections, foster care home inspections and child safety education programs.

3. What Do I Do If I Have A Fire Extinguisher That Does Not Work?: The Fire Department does not work on fire extinguishers. You should seek out a licensed fire equipment company to handle the repairs or replacement.

4. Who Do I Contact In Case Of An Emergency?: Contact 9-1-1 for any emergencies.

7. Does Castle Hills Have Their Own Ambulance Service?: No. The City of Castle Hills contracts with Acadian Ambulance service for transport needs.

8. Does the Fire Department Provide Home Safety Inspections?: Yes. The Fire Department will do these inspections at no cost. Call us at (210) 342-2341 to set up an appointment to have your home inspected.

9. What Is The Best Type Of Fire Extinguisher To Have?: We recommend a 5 pound ABC extinguisher. These extinguishers are multi-use.
What does the ABC stand for:
Class A = Petroleum based materials such as gasoline or diesel fuels
Class B = Ordinary combustibles such as wood and paper
Class C = Electrical

10. Do You Allow Birthday Parties At The Stations?: No, unfortunately we are unable to allow birthday parties at our station. We do, however, allow tours of the station, and we welcome you to stop by and look at the fire trucks.
